The State Museums Foundation

The Schleswig-Holstein State Museums Foundation Schloss Gottorf founded in 1999 is the most significant museum association in the State of Schleswig-Holstein. The Centre for Baltic and Scandinavian Archaeology (ZBSA) is integrated into the Foundation as a non-university establishment.

Cultural ambassador for and in Schleswig-Holstein

With their focal areas of archaeology, art and cultural history as well as ethnology, the Foundation’s museums tell Schleswig-Holstein’s and its people’s history from the Stone Age to the present day.

The variety of its buildings and departments is a vivid reflection of our State, whose rich heritage is collected, researched, maintained, imparted, exhibited and managed here.
